G59 is the set of regulations guiding the use of generators connected in parallel with the national mains grid,
This is of particular relevance to power generation, for example combined heat and power units, and generators for peak lopping, or parallel running with the grid. Typically amperage exceeds 16A for each phase. Below this the G83/1-1 takes effect.
G59 helps regulate local generator usage. Specifically the local electricity authority needs to know of generated power augmenting the grid, perhaps if a limb of the grid is down and being repaired. Thishelps grid repair staff to manage incoming generator supply and work safely.
Northern Electric provide G59 generator support (for existing applications) and can of course provide upgrades to the more recent G99 (2018) standard where appropriate.
