The recommendation provides guidance for customers using export limiting schemes to provide energy in parallel with DNOs (the distribution systems of licensed distribution network operators). These are designed to maintain the integrity, safety and quality of grid supply.
Non - DNO energy suppliers inceasingly seek to reduce their energy import demands as internal generation costs reduce, and whilst increased DNO export costs are high. Generally an ELS may be employed in the following situations:
Northern Electric provide G100 generator control hardware to achieve the above objectives. We design and manufacture our own hardware in our own Sheffield factory to customer requirements and the strict demands of G100.
Generator export limitation, is subject to the Export Limitation Scheme guidelines (ELS). This is also referred to as G100. These are intelligent local generator controllers, controlling the local output to the DNO (the main grid). They may increase or decrease the output to the DNO dependent upon need. Sometimes the DNO may signal the local controller to reduce local generator output if it is excessive. This may be necessary if the DNO is encountering operational difficulties at their end and they want to stop power reaching their site from ELS participants during DNO maintenance.
